Description: This is a visual metaphore for the relationship between spirit and body. The motivation behind this piece represents the two selves; The material and the spiritual self. The material self or the me that lives in the world steps out of the shadows from the void which is darkness into the world wearing the mask of matter. The upper face is more passive and flesh colored. It symbolizes the true self, or soul.

There are two purple spherical shapes under this mask that represents the duelistic nature of the subconscious or imagination and the conscious. The eye revealed in the iron mask means that the spirit must be reflected through the material body. Each face has a single eye. The single eye stands for the I am which is the spiritual presence that we call being.

The hand that points upward is called the pose of David which means my motivation comes from spirit.

Material existence is the entrapment of spirit. The purpose of the individual is to come to terms with our spirit living in matter.
