Description: This
piece is the third version of a vision that occured to me in 1972 while a
student at the University of Wyoming. I worked at the audio-visual department
on a work study program. One afternoon while cleaning films on the Harwald
machine, a face appeared directly in front of my face. It was solid and real
looking and it frightened me. Startled, I fell backward. As I fell I noticed
the eyes in the face had no whites. The face was more elongated than depicted
in this piece. There was also a big blob of a thick blue honey-like fluid
slowly flowing over the right eye and cheek of the face. When I hit the floor
my eyes closed momentarily and when I opened them the vision was gone.
I did a crude thumbnail sketch which I later painted. Since then I've done
three different versions of this event, This is the final one.
